Marie Tribble Campbell, 63, of 2441 Caledonia Drive began a sacred pilgrimage to everlasting life early Tuesday morning, January 23, 2007. Born September 3, 1943 in Columbia, South Carolina, she was the daughter of Lewis and Victoria Hollins Tribble.
She was a 1961 graduate of Atkins High School and attended the Agricultural and Technical State College as an Engineering Math major.
During her professional career, she worked in the engineering department of Western Electric in New Jersey for over ten years. Returning to Winston-Salem in the late 1970's, she set out on a new Voyage of Discovery and worked in Real Estate and Tax preparations. At her pre-retirement employment at H&R Block for more than fifteen years, she prepared taxes, taught tax-up-date classes and managed officers at two Block locations.
She united with the United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church in the late 1970's. During her membership tenure there, Marie served as a Cadet Scout Leader (Troop 664), Sunday Church School Secretary, member of the Church Anniversary, Church Restoration Tour Guide, Rivers Installation, and the Bulletin Board Committees.
Marie was a member of the Hollins Family Club and served as the official historian. As such, she has left behind a wealth of treasures in the form of coin collections; scrap books, needle point, and other memorabilia.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Those left behind to reflect upon and share in treasured memories include her children, Christy Marisa, and Kyle Leis (Simone) Campbell of Montclair, NJ; two sisters, Henrietta Tribble Lee of Blythewood, SC and Rosa Tribble Wilson of the city; an aunt, Beatrice Hollins Graham of High Point, NC; one niece, La Joi Wilson-Moore of the city; three nephews, Haywood L. Wilson, III. Of Charlotte, NC, Marc A Lee of Newark, NJ, and Scott E. Lee (Amina) of Irvington, NJ; one grand-niece, two grand-nephews, many cousins, extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at 1:00 PM from United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Prince Raney Rivers officiating. The family visitation will be held from 12 NOON until 1:00 PM on Saturday at the Church.
