Marian Denise Conrad Norwood was born October 6, 1964 to Sarah Louise Conrad and Mayo (Mae) Reaves in Winston-Salem, NC.
She was a product of the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System and a 1982 graduate of East Forsyth High School. Following graduation, she attended Bennett College with a major in business administration.
Mrs. Marian Norwood was married to William Lamont Norwood, Sr. and their union was blessed with one daughter, Marquisa Norwood and two sons, William Lamont Norwood, Jr. and Demetrius Norwood. They were married for twenty-two years.
She was the owner and operator of First Class Daycare. Before the establishment of her daycare, she was employed by BlueCross and BlueShield.
Marian was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and mentor who will be deeply missed by her family. On Tuesday, November 3, 2015 Marian Conrad Norwood "won the victory" when she answered the call from labor to reward at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC following a long battle with Lupus.
In addition to her mother and grandparents, John and Doreatha Conrad and James and Pearline Reaves, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry David Conrad and Alfred Bruce Conrad.
Those family members who survive and will forever cherish loving memories of her include her devoted husband, William Lamont Norwood, Sr.; three children, Marquisa Norwood, William Lamont Norwood, Jr., and Demetrius Steward Norwood; parents, Mayo (Mae) Reaves; four sisters, Enola Gay Conrad, Veronica (Timothy) Jones, Marilyn (Carlos) Crawford, and Marie Reaves; two brothers, Roger Conrad and Mayo Eugene Conrad; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Monday, November 9, 2015 at Genesis Victory Outreach Center with Minister Sharon Pollard officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 10:00am until 10:30am on Monday at the Church.
