Obituary

On Wednesday, March 3,2021, God's angels rejoiced as our loved one soared home to heaven.

Marian J. Parks Gwyn was born on September 19, 1931 in Kernersville, NC to the late George W. and Minnie F. Jones.

Marian was educated in the Winston Salem/Forsyth County School System and she graduated from Carver High School.

Marian, affectionately known as "Myrn", hands were gifted by God and as a graduate of a school of tailoring, many family garments were sewn, altered or embroidered with love by her hands. Marian had a gentle spirit that was accompanied by a warm bashful smile, soft speech and a mild manner. Marian understood the value of being God's servant and it was with those God gifted hands and God given characteristics that Marian lovingly served others by providing care as a nurse's aide at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, Ohio and once returning to the city, at NC Baptist Hospital.

As long as her health allowed, Marian was a faithful member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Gwyn; her sister and brother- in- law, Elsie J. (Theodore) Tillman; sister, Hilda J. Lowe; brothers and sisters-in- law, Carnell (Ruth) Jones, John (Fern) Jones; and her brother, George Wendell Jones.

Left holding dear loving memories are 3 children; Linda P. Flowers of the home, Marshall E. (Angela) Parks, Sr. of Raeford, NC and Marcus Parks, Sr. of Charlotte, NC; five bonus children, Sharon Barnes, Wanda (Mark) Stevens, Edward Gwyn, Jr., Larry (Arlene) Gwyn and Donnell Gwyn of Philadelphia, PA, and Edward Gwyn of Monroe NC; seven grandchildren, Marshall (Larie) Miller, Shala Parks, Marshall Parks, Jr., Timothy Parks, Sr., Zachery Belcher, Marcus Parks Jr., and Kimberly Tillman; thirteen great grandchildren; Ayanna Miller, Kalie Miller, Tony Burden, Torian Burden, Juelz Parks, Marshall Parks III, Kyiah Parks, Josiah Boykin, Timothy Parks, Jr., Tyler Parks, Marcus Parks III, Kemar Parks and Emmanuel Lindsey; a loving sister; Shirley J. Dodd, sister-in-law; Mae Frances Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Viewing will be held from 10am until 1pm Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Russell Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, March 10, 2021 in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
