Obituary

Philippians 1:2 For me to live is Christ but to die is gain. Evangelist Maria Rowdy Earl, 46, of Winston-Salem was blessed to ascend to Heaven to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 29, 2007. She was naturally born on Jan. 19, 1961, to the late James Daniel Rowdy Sr. and Sarah C. Hauser. She was a 1979 graduate of North Forsyth High School. She began her spiritual life at the age of 18 and in August 1981, at the age of 21, she was called by God into the ministry to preach the gospel. As stated by Maria, "We can't lose with a winner and we live to live again." Maria Earl became a faithful employee at Wachovia Bank for 20 years, as a trust officer and also employed at Aon Consulting of Winston-Salem. Maria Earl leaves to cherish her memories and presence with a keen and committed husband Bishop Dwight Earl Sr.; two daughters, Delicia and Destiny; and a son, Dwight Earl Jr., all of the home; mother, Pastor Sarah (George) Hauser; two sisters, Sharon (Stanley) Carroll and Sabrina (Gerry) Belcher; three brothers, the Rev. James (Andrea) Rowdy Jr., Melvin (Priscilla) Rowdy Sr., and Darryl (Lisa) Rowdy Sr.; three sisters-in-laws Gail Lee, Catherine (Daron) Johnson and Tracey Thompson, all of Winston-Salem; and a host of family and friends. Services will be held at 1 p.m. today, April 2, 2007, at St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church. Bishop Claude Thomas will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the church. Her remains will be placed in the church at 11 a.m.
