Margie Joyce Scarborough, 89, entered eternal peace on Monday, January 12, 2015 at her home. She was born on February 14, 1925, a daughter of the late Harvey and Margaret Joyce. She worked for the Winston-Salem Public Schools. Margie was a very dedicated member of Goler Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 66 years, Jessie P. Scarborough; and a devoted son, Reginald Scarborough in 2007.


She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her affectionate children, Claudette Gethers-Boyd, Michael Scarborough of Winston-Salem, NC and Brenda Edge (Carl) Rocky Mount, NC; a devoted and beloved grandson who loved her to the moon and back, Frederick Gethers of Winston-Salem, NC; a loving sister, Cornelia Forbes; adoring grandchildren and great-grands; loving nieces and an ardent caregiver and friend, Joyce Stewart; and a host of other relatives and friends.


Funeral services will be held at 12noon Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Goler Memorial AME Zion Church, 630 N. Patterson Ave. W-S, NC with Rev. Dr. George Banks officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Thursday at the Church.
