Mrs. Margie M. Pitts, 74, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, following an extended illness.
She was born in Winston-Salem, NC on July 19, 1947 to Carlyle and Odessa McDonald. She later married Marquis DeLafayette Pitts, her husband for 34 years.
She was educated and graduated from Anderson High School, and Forsyth Technical Community College, Winston-Salem, NC. She was employed in the medical field at Forsyth Medical Center for several years as a medical technician and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and at Arbor Acres United Methodist Retirement Community Center as a manager. She later became an entrepreneur and co-owner of P&P Tax Accounting Business. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 128.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Darren McDonald; two brothers, Carlyle McDonald Jr. and Harold McDonald; and a son-in-law, Chad Shore.
She leaves to cherish her memory: a devoted brother and sister-in-law, William Herman (Betty) McDonald; four loving daughters, Phyllis (Charles) Smith, Tarsha M. Shore, Latrice "Renee" McDonald, "Little" Margie McDonald; one step-son, Johannas Carpenter, all of Winston-Salem, NC; better known as "Nana", she will be missed by her seven grandchildren, Kenneth "Darryl" Smith, Kendall (Angelica) Smith, Chrishaunta (Karl) Albright, Keyon Smith, Briana Shore, Raven Hamilton and Victor McCummings, Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Kiyan Smith, Kaden Smith and Aliya Smith; devoted cousins, Joseph "Butch" Covington, Barbara (Gus) Greene, Archie (Helen) Covington, Terry Covington, and Vanessa Walls; a special niece, Carllet McDonald; devoted life-long friends, Charles Vance and William Drake, all of Winston-Salem, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, God-children, relatives and friends.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the ICU team at Novant Forsyth Medical Center.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Russell Funeral Home.
Private funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 3, 2021.
