Margie Leida McDonald, aka "Little Margie", 54, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, following an extended illness.
She was born in Winston-Salem, NC on July 25, 1970 to Timothy McGill Cuthrell and Margie M. Pitts. She later married Victor McCummings Sr.
She graduated from Carver High School in 1988, attended Forsyth Technical Community College, and Winston-Salem State University. She was a former employee of the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System, US Airways, and Wachovia Bank. She was employed in public service for several years at Forsyth County Department of Social Services. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 128. She was a devoted member of Lula Street Church of God (under the affiliation of Reverend Gwathney Leak Sr. & Reverend Harvey Warren) and sang in the youth choir with her family. In Margie's adult life she joined Macedonia Worship Center and served on the WM Johnson Memorial & Celestial Mass Choir and the Nursing Board (Under the Affiliation Apostle S.D. Johnson).
She was preceded in death by her grandparents who raised her, Carlyle and Odessa McDonald; mother; father; stepfather, Marquis De'Lafayette Pitts; brother, Darren McDonald; two uncles, Carlyle McDonald, Jr. and Harold McDonald; and a brother-in-law, Chad Shore.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Victor Terence McCummings, Jr.; devoted uncle and aunt, William Herman (Betty) McDonald; three loving sisters, Phyllis (Charles) Smith, Tarsha M. Shore, and Latrice "Renee" McDonald; aunt, Maxine Hughes; devoted cousins, Carllet McDonald, Barbara (Gus) Greene, and Vanessa Walls all of Winston-Salem, NC; two best friends, Elizabeth "Libby" Washington of SpringHill, Florida and LaTonya Graham of Winston Salem, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Friday, January 10, 2025 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12noon on Friday at the Chapel.
