Mother Margaret Lyons Transou, affectionately known as "Nana" and "Smurfette" was born on September 9, 1931 to the late Jesse Lyons and Emma Hudson Lyons. She departed this earthly life on Friday, December 27, 2024 at Piney Grove Retirement Center in Kernersville, NC.
A devoted Christian, Mother Transou was an active member of Greater Truevine Ministries in Thomasville, NC under the leadership of her son, Vice-Bishop Stanley Transou and Co-Pastor Lady Constance Woods Transou, where she served faithfully as Church Mother.
Mother Transou married Samuel T. Transou, and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She was a homemaker and later in life she also worked outside the home.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Gregory T. Transou; brothers, Alfred Lyons, John Lyons, Frank Lyons, and Richmond Lyons; and sisters, Ella Mae Dulin, Evelyn Campbell, Louise Howell, and Marie Liverpool.
She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Mother Margaret Lyons Sampson of Welcome, NC, Evangelist Sandra (Alfredo) Laureano of Statesville, NC and Evangelist Barbara Hoover of Kernersville, NC; two sons, Vice Bishop Stanley (Co-Pastor Lady Constance Woods) Transou and Deacon Grant (Evangelist Tammy) Transou; her siblings, Reverend Jesse Lyons, Jr. of Westbury, NY, James Lyons of Salisbury, NC and Della Williams of Mocksville, NC; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great- great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Friday, January 3, 2025 at Russell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Goodwill Baptist Church. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00noon on Saturday at the Church.
