Obituary

Margaret L. Pitts was born in Winston-Salem, NC on April 29, 1941 to Ruth Self Roberts and William Mason Roberts. She received her education from Forsyth County Schools, graduating from the original Atkins High School in 1959. Her first love was the late William Correll during her high school days and her oldest son, William Roberts, came from that relationship. In 1963 she married Isaac Fred Pitts, Sr. in Winston-Salem and they were blessed with two children, Isaac, Jr. and Tammie.

Margaret's early employment was with Hanes Hosiery Mill at Northwest Blvd and Ivy Avenue. In later years she was a telephone operator at the Adams Mark Hotel on Cherry and Fourth Streets. She joined First Waughtown Baptist Church and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior.

In July 2003 Margaret retired and moved to Philadelphia to be with her son and grandkids.

After a short bout with cancer, on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 Margaret as called home to be with the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, twin brothers, Mac Ray and Macary Roberts; brother, George Roberts; and beloved sisters, Ruth Joanne Campbell and Mocille Chisholm.

She is survived by her brother, Mason June Roberts, Sr. of Ohio; sisters, Maxine Boulware of Winston-Salem and Lorraine Saunders of Chicago, IL; two sons, William (Gail) Roberts and Isaac (Bridgett) Pitts, Jr.; daughters, Tammie Pitts and Aisha Bunch; six grandkids, Michael, Ashley, Ryan, Brittany, Brandon, and Chase; two great-grandkids, Khalil and Joshua; ten nieces and nephews from her siblings, Cassandra, Tywanda, Byron, Mason, Jr., Jennie, Bobby, Mac Ray, Jr., Joey, Terri, and Wesley; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30am Saturday, August 22, 2009 from the First Waughtown Baptist Church with Pastor Dennis Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11:30am on Saturday at the Church.
