On Monday, May 9, 2011 God called home his angel, Margaret Blossom Hodge-McArthur.
Margaret Blossom Hodge-McArthur was born to the late Elmo Johnson and the late Willie Mae Hodge in Winston-Salem, NC on December 11, 1948. Margaret was educated in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System and graduated from Atkins High School class of 1967. She continued her education at La Mae Beauty College and became a licensed cosmetologist. Margaret was a dedicated employee with Thomasville Furniture Factory and retired after thirty years of service.
She was a beautiful soul, devoted Christian, and enjoyed people. After retiring from Thomasville Furniture, Margaret decided to work part-time for the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System until her health failed.
Margaret was a life-long member of Ambassador Cathedral under the leadership of Bishop FD Patterson. Her social activities included Daughters of Zion and Sisters of Bivouac #530 O.E.S.
Mrs. Margaret McArthur leaves to cherish her memories a loving husband of 43 years, Anthony A. McArthur, Sr. of the home; two very loving and devoted sons, Anthony (Angelita) McArthur, Jr. and Christopher (Diane) McArthur both of Winston-Salem, NC; an adopted daughter, Evangelist Eileen Kelly of San Antonio, TX; two beautiful and loving grandchildren, Anthony D. McArthur and Tatyana Y. McArthur both of Winston-Salem, NC; three step-grandchildren, Khadijia, Alleyah, and Khlil of Winston-Salem, NC; one sister, Judy H. Myers of Winston-Salem, NC; an aunt, Blossom (Victor) Tynes of Greensboro, NC; a devoted cousin/sister, Brenda (Nardie) Grinage of Charlotte, NC; a devoted sister-in-law, Valeria Rowles of Suffolk, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; special friends, Minister Cynthia (Jerry) Sharpe, Alice Gray, Deb (Mitchell) Fears; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Monday, May 16, 2011 at Ambassadors Cathedral. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Monday at the Church.
