Ms. Margaret Christine Lucas Chatman was born December 17, 1925 in Forsyth County to Willie and James Lucas. She was called home on Wednesday, October 8, 2008. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church from a child up to her death. She was a former member of several organizational committees within the church. She was retired from the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System.

She was preceded in death by her parents Willie and James Lucas; sons, Reginald Lynch and Ronald Lucas; sisters, Geraldine Lucas Abbott and Edith Lynch; and a brother, James Lucas, Jr.

Left to cherish the precious memories are her brother, Moses Lucas; sister/cousin, Joyce Durham; her children, Constance (Clifton) Hillian, Dennis Chatman, Denise (Neil) Batchleor, Daphne Singh, Debbie Floyd; Son-In-Christ, Jonathan Wardlowe and daughter; in-law, Margaret Lynch; grandchildren, Chasidy Chatman, Natasa Floyd, Kejuan Vinson; a host of nieces and nephews, and a host of God children.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Monday, October 13, 2008 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Ira McCullough, officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be held from 1 pm until 1:30 pm Monday at the church. The family can be contacted at 851 Woodcote Street.
