Margaret Smith Fielder, 83, of 4185 Kennison Village Dr. was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on January 6, 1934 to Joseph and Connie Smith. She departed this life Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Novant Health-Forsyth Medical Center.
Margaret was preceded in death by both parents and a sister, Josephine Smith McCord, a brother, Peter Smith, two daughters, Charlene Fielder Westbrook and Sandra Dee Smith.
Margaret commonly known as "Byrd" to many and "Muh" to family and grandchildren attended Baltimore city public schools and graduated from Fredrick Douglas High School. After completion of high school, she returned to Winston-Salem, North Carolina where she married and raised eight wonderful children. Margaret retired with 20 years at Alcatel Lucent, formally known as Western Electric.
Margaret was a member of St. Peters Church & World Outreach Center, and a former member of Genesis Outreach Center.
"Muh" was a beautiful woman who was a classy dresser with a distinctive personality; one who can laugh at anything, loved her family and cared for others. She was a woman who knew the value of having fun, and not taking life too seriously. Our "Muh" was a woman that you could trust and count on to brighten your day. Mother was an adviser, counselor, teacher, mentor, and friend; strong in spirit and in faith. A woman one would never forget.
She leaves to cherish loving memories two sons, Jerome Fielder Jr. and Reginald Tyrone Fielder; four daughters, Shelia Fielder Wilson (Dr. Michael Wilson), Valerie Gambrell, Rhonda Underwood, and Twyla Dawn Fielder; fifteen grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Tuesday, March 21, 2016 at St. Peter's Church and World Outreach Center with Bishop J.C. Hash, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00noon on Tuesday at the Church.
