Obituary

Mrs. Magnolia M. Perkins was born on September 11, 1926 in Darlington, SC to Annie Moses and John Preston Dubois. Mrs. Perkins passed away on November 3, 2020 at Novant Medical Center with family members by her side.

Mrs. Perkins moved to Winston-Salem at an early age and attended the local public schools graduating from Atkins High School in 1945.  She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and a strong supporter of all activities until failing health.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by the love of her life, Mr. James Moore Perkins, Jr. who she adoringly called "Perk;" a daughter, Alphalonia "Peaches" Gwyn; a granddaughter, Stacy Ingram Andrews; and a son-in-law, Rickie Foote.

Mrs. Perkins was an avid homemaker and a sharp dresser who was always so full of life and the life of the party. She was a great cook and she loved sharing and entertaining. She never met a stranger and the Perkins's door was always opened to feed anyone who came to the house. She always made people feel so special especially when they would say, "I love you," she would respond, "I love you more." She really embraced her first name and loved the way so many people pronounced it.

She leaves to cherish many loving memories, her children, Julia Perkins Chisholm (James), James Perkins (Priscilla), Linda Perkins Foote, Arnita Perkins Ingram (Douglas), Isolar Perkins, Luzelle Perkins, and Lee Perkins Wilcox; three sisters, Celia Reaves of Delaware, Deborah General (Edward) of New Jersey, Arthretta Wilson (Russell) of New Jersey; two brothers, Otis Dubois of New Jersey, and Preston Dubose (Florence) of New Jersey; grandchildren, China Perkins Campbell (Mark), Stephanie Chisholm Hanes (Terry), DeMario Perkins, Dr. Tracy Foote White (Nathan), Selena Ingram Ligons (Gjerria), Steven Chisholm (Sarfea), Nicole Perkins, Tynesha Gwyn, Antwan Wilcox; great-grandchildren, Jaquae Perkins, DeAna Perkins, Alasha Ingram, Steven L.
