Mrs. Lutherene Gleaton, 92, departed this life at 11:00pm on Monday, December 12, 2016 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
Lutherene was born July 11, 1924 in Orangeburg County, SC. She was the daughter of Walter & Essie Stokes of North, SC.

She attended Orangeburg County Public County Schools and St. James AME Church in North, SC. Upon relocating to Washington, DC, she worked at People's Pharmacy where she retired. She was married to Wilbur Gleaton for over 50 years.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Those left to cherish her memories are her sister, Carrie Boston of W-S, NC; a host of nieces and nephews from W-S, NC, Columbia, SC, and Washington, DC; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30am Monday, December 19, 2016 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dennis Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 11:30am on Monday at the Chapel.
