Mr. Luther Alexander Fair, Sr. was a native of Winston-Salem, NC. He was born March 27, 1940. Mr. Fair departed this life on Monday, July 11, 2011.
Mr. Luther Alexander Fair, Sr. was born to the late Waddell, Sr. and Evelina Brown-Fair. He was a graduate of Atkins High School in 1958. He worked briefly for RJR Tobacco Co. and then guided by his grandmother, Ms. Carrie Fair-Petree, learned a trade as a floral designer where he would operate and own his business, Fair's Florist. He was best known as the Flower Master.
Mr. Fair was a faithful member of Carver Road Church of Christ. His favorite thing to do was sing. He sang with the Willingham Gospel Singers and would sing with his congregational choir.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Cornelia Johnson-Brown; paternal grandmother, Carrie Fair-Petree; two sisters, Ida Mae Fair-Petree and Olivia A. Fair; and three brothers, James Brown, Abraham Fair, and Waddell Fair, Jr.
He is survived by a daughter, Tammy (Anthony) Harbour; a son, Luther Alexander Fair, Jr.; three grandchildren, Brhianna Fair, Anthonisha and Anthony Harbour, Jr.; two sisters, Doretha (Henry) Marshall and Helen (Archie) Covington; one brother, William Fair; four devoted nieces, Cheryl Smith, Marcella (Larry) Kendall, Melinee Petree-Lytle, and Lori Lumpkin; a devoted brother-in-law, Mr. Nelson Petree; a very dear friend, brother Frank W. Dulin; a devoted adopted son, Mr. Kenneth Ridgill; a very loving extended family, the Joe Louis Craig Family; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Saturday, July 16, 2011 at the Carver Road Church of Christ with Brother Jefferson Caruthers, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Saturday at the Church.
