– Mr. Luther Carter Gordon, III was born on February 20, 1970 in the city of Winston Salem, NC to Luther Gordon, II and Gloria Jean Simon Gordon. He quietly entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at his home.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Maybell Bacote Simon; paternal grandparents, Luther Carter Gordon, Sr. and wife Annie Gentry Gordon; his father-in-law, George E. Jones; as well as other beloved family members.
Fond memories of a life well lived are cherished by his beloved wife, Dawn Renee Gordon and son Ryan James Gordon of the home; his parents; two brothers, Rodney (Jamika) Gordon and Gregory (LaTrenda) Gordon; one sister, Tori (Brian) Edmonson all of Winston Salem; four nieces, CyEreka (Claudell) Edouard of Auburn, AL, Candice Sutton, Tynyssa Brooks, and Briana Edmonson; three nephews, Tony Martin, Jr., Rodney Gordon, Jr., and Gregory Emad Boyd Gordon II; two great-nieces, Nia Solange and Monet Simone Edouard (Goddaughter) of Auburn, AL; one great-nephew, Michai Deshawn Sutton; a very devoted and loving mother-in-law, Carolyn Jones of the home; a host of other relatives and friends inclusive of 2 lifelong friends, Kevin Mitchell and Darryl Sawyer; and the Steelers Sunday crew.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Friday, July 25, 2014 at St. Matthew Apostolic Church with Bishop Joseph Lowery officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Friday at the Church.
