Obituary

Lullie Mae "Mower" Beatty Brown was born February 16, 1914 in Newberry, South Carolina to Eva Caldwell Beatty and James Davis. Lullie Mae married Chambers Cleovus Brown and had eight children. In addition to working in the home, Lullie Mae worked on the tobacco line in Winston-Salem, NC and later at the North Carolina Baptist Home for approximately four years. She had a green thumb and maintained a beautiful yard full of flowers. For the past year, she resided at Ashton Place Assisted Living in McLeansville, NC.
She was preceded to Glory by her husband, Chambers Brown; two daughters, Betty Lou Brown and Lillian Brown Connor; one son, Joseph Uphatea Brown; one sister, Louvenia Beatty Baxter; and one brother, John Beatty, Sr.
She is survived by her three sons, Shelton Brown (Carolyn) of Dalzell, SC, Benjamin Brown, Sr. of Clinton, MD, and Gordon Brown of Winston-Salem, NC; her two daughters, Harnetha Parks of Greensboro, NC and Johnnie Mae Bailey of San Pablo, CA; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a niece, Desi Ree Gervin of Philadelphia, PA; a nephew, Melvin Beatty of Winston-Salem, NC; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Friday, November 5, 2010 at New Zion Baptist Church with Pastor Vernon E. Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1pm on Friday at the Church.
