Lucy N. Allen was born December 6, 1932 in Raleigh, NC to the late Mrs. Beatrice Kirby and Granville Costner. She was raised by the late Elder C. E. Norment and Mrs. Estelle Norment residing in Winston-Salem, NC.
Lucy attended public schools in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County graduating from Carver High School in 1951. She was employed for 20 years at Western Electric retiring as an Accounting Supervisor and DSC/Alcatel in Dallas, TX where she retired for the second time.
She was married to the late Bernard P. Allen of Dallas, TX.
She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Valencia C. (Willie) Sutton; three grandchildren, Tiffani Carpenter, Dana M. (Troy) Benton, and Ayonna (Chris) Sutton-Chaplin; five great-grandchildren, Travis, Dante', Troi, Solomon and Caman; two sisters, Sandra Tobias, and Sylvia (Ray) Williams; one brother, Leroy Kirby, Jr.; adopted daughter, Alberta (Harold) Busby; two step-daughters, Elizabeth Allen and Barbara Jean Allen; a special friend, Bob Dias; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Saturday, June 27, 2009 from the Macedonia Worship Center, 500 Kinard Drive Winston-Salem, NC 27101 with Reverend James Hunt, Jr. officiating. The family visitation will be held from Noon until 1pm on Saturday at the Church.
Final rites by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will be held at 11am and final rites by the Links will be held at 11:30am on Saturday at the Church.
