Obituary
One beautiful angel now has her wings as Lucile B. Barksdale departed this earthly life for a heavenly homegoing on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 8:46 am from the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC after a lengthy illness.
Lucile was born in Bennettsville, SC on January 1, 1912 to Nancy Gertrude Smith and William Boyd Buchanan.
Her early working career was that of a teacher upon graduation from Winston-Salem Teachers College before later working for the Federal Government in the Office of Civil Service as a Staffing Specialist in Washington, DC for nearly 40 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands, Oscar Morrison and Leonard N. Barksdale.
Lucile is survived by her loving family including her grand-niece, Anmari F. Cowan; nieces, Deborah and Nancy "Cookie" Cowan; nephew, Walter S. Cowan; all the children of Lucile's first cousin, Grace Cowan; and a host of grandchildren, other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2pm Tuesday, April 8, 2008 in Evergreen Cemetery.
