Mrs. Lowretha Tomlinson Bohannon went home to be with the Lord on May 29, 2011 at her home, 424 West 26th Street after an extended period of illness. Mrs. Bohannon was a retiree of the Forsyth County Dept of Social Services and a long time employee of Thalhimers Dept Store. She graduated from Atkins High School, and also attended Winston-Salem State University as well as Kate Biting School of Nursing. She was a member of Saint's Home United Methodist Church, and the Cherry Hill Community Club.
Mrs. Bohannon was predeceased by her parents, H.T. and Jennie Tomlinson; her husband, Percell J. Bohannon; and a daughter, Janice E. Bohannon.
Mrs. Bohannon leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Teressa B. Hawkins; a grandson, Terrance D. Hawkins (Allonda); two great-grands, Zoe and Zion Hawkins; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ella Bohannon, Mrs. Evelyn B. Carter, Mrs. Shirley Bohannon; a special son, Rev. Willie H. Hawkins; a devoted niece and nephew, Deana Beal and Percy Payne; and a host of other nieces, nephews, special grands, friends, and helpers.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Saint's Home United Methodist, 1390 Thurmond St. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Thursday at the Church.
