Mrs. Lovie McConnell Cooper, 95, passed away at Trinity Glen Nursing Facility on Thursday, April 26, 2018 following a period of illness. She was born to the late Thomas McConnell, Sr. and Roxie Peay McConnell in Winston-Salem on April 26, 1923. A granddaughter, Wendy Cooper; and 7 siblings preceded her in death.

She attended Atkins High School and graduated from LaMae Beauty College. Mrs. Cooper retired from Marriott Food Service after 30 years of dedicated service. She was a lifelong member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children, Melvin McConnell, Kenneth (Lavonne) Cooper, Shirley Barnes, and Roslyn Hickman; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Jane McConnell, Sarah McConnell, and Annie McConnell; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Mount Zion Baptist Church.  The family will greet friends thirty minutes prior to the services on Saturday at the Church.
