Mrs. Louise Thompson McCullough affectionately known as "Ma Ma" to her grands and great grands was born in Lancaster County, South Carolina on December 25, 1922 and was blessed to live 102 years. She accepted Christ at an early age, and joined Mount Carmel A.M.E. Zion Church in Lancaster, South Carolina.
Louise married John McCullough and moved to Winston-Salem many years ago and joined Goler Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church. She served faithfully as a member of the Deaconess Board, Willing Workers Club and Women's Home and Overseas Missionary Society until her health failed.
She departed this life on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center with Trellis Supportive Care. Many thanks to the doctors and nurses for their excellent care and support.
Louise worked and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; and daughter, Lorraine.
Those left to cherish her loving memory are her daughter, Carolyn (Harry) Henderson with whom she resided; two grandsons, Kevin (Tammy) Adams of Charlotte, NC and Russell (Shakira) Debnam of Raleigh, NC; two great grandchildren, Samuel Wilson of Charlotte, NC and Alaysia Lorraine Debnam of Raleigh, NC; one very "special sister" and neighbor, Helen T. Blackmon (they were rarely seen separately throughout the years); four sisters, Mary A. Stewart, Pauline (Kelly) Benson, Rev. Reva (Dr. Bennie) Stinson and Catherine Coffey all of Lancaster, SC; one brother, Edgo (Sarah) Thompson of Lancaster, SC; one special nephew, Marvin (Naomi) Blackmon of the city; a special neighbor and "care angel," Catherine Butler; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Russell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church, 1435 E. Fourth St., Winston-Salem, NC 27101. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12:00pm on Wednesday at the Church.
