Obituary

Loretta K. Jackson, 79, departed this life on July 8, 2025 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born on September 16, 1945 in Winston Salem, NC to the late Floyd James Barber and Sallie Mae King. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Elbert Toby King and James Leroy King; an aunt, Almeana Little; and her cousin, Valery King. Loretta was a former employee of Wake Forest Baptist Hospital for 25 years of service in Medical Records. She also worked for Winston Lake Golf course. She was a faithful member of St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. J.R. Samuels and now Pastor James E. Cook.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter, Melissa Jackson; son, Marcus Jackson; grandson, Jevonte Dunbar-Jackson; sister, Almeana Lyles; brother, Jerome Griffin; god-daughter, Tyara Scott; devoted friends, Catherine Scott and Barbara Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends, and her church family.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church.  Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory, Walkertown, NC. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11:00am on Wednesday at the Church.
