Ms. Loretta Walker Howie heard the voice of Jesus say "Come unto me and rest" on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. Loretta was born on July 26, 1939 in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Fred and Julia Walker. She attended the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County public schools and was a member of Mars Hills Baptist Church. Loretta was a devoted mother and a faithful friend that lived her life to the fullest.
She was preceded in death by one brother Leander Walker.
Left to cherish her loving memory are one daughter, Seania (Tomi) King of Hope Mills, NC; three sons, Thomas (Kathy) Walker, Furman Walker, Lamont (Tomeka) Walker, all of Winston-Salem, NC; two brothers, Alexander Walker, Riverside CA and Kenneth (Sandra) Walker, Detroit, MI; one sister Gwendolyn (Garfield) Grinton of Winston-Salem, NC; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12noon on Saturday at the Chapel.
