Loretta "Sharifa" Gail Burnette, 67, went home to be with the Lord on December 25, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was preceded in death by her son, Anthony Burnette; her parents, Recie Corsidine Burnette and Major Fulton Barrett; and her sisters, Josephine Bryant and Betty Jones.

She is survived by her four daughters, Frances N. M. Burnette, Jamika (Stefon) Watts, Ruby (David) Thompson, and Latifa (Tremayne) Gilmore; her grandchildren, Sharifah Perry,  Anthony "Tony" Warren, Sunny Smith, Recie (Cedric)  Mack, Christopher Hairston, Ciarra Cason, Elasha Young, Takirah Burnette, Tremayne "T.J." Gilmore, Sydney Grace Watts, and Brooklyn Thomas; her great-grandchildren, Shaviea Smith, Dirmani Smith, Anthony Warren, Jr.,  Jalen Burnette, Careem Mack, and Josiah Mack;  devoted brothers, Ronald (Frankie) Fulton Burnette and Chester (Delsie) Burnette; close friends that have become family, Nelson Malloy and Doris Bines; and she will be cherished by a host of cousins and friends. Loretta touched so many and made a difference in so many lives because of her huge, kind heart. She was always fighting for what was right and anyone who needed help.

The family will be accepting visitors at 800 Garfield Ct, W-S, NC. She will be having a traditional Islamic ceremony as she lived her life as a devout Muslim. Her services will be held at 2:00pm Friday, December 28, 2018 at The Community Mosque of Winston-Salem, 1419 Waughtown St., Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
