Lorene Hood Shaw departed this life on Sunday, August 30, 2015. She was born to Joshua Smith and Louise Alford on April 14, 1943.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Tommy Hood.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 49 years, William Shaw; daughter, Willette (Montez) Watson; three sons, Charles(Beulah) Shaw of Charlotte, NC, Willie Shaw, and Terrance (Karen) Shaw both of the city; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; devoted sister, Viola (Bobby) Kimbrough; devoted sister-in-law, Siberia Hood of the city; five brothers-in-law, Henry (Lorraine) Shaw of the city, Charlie and July Shaw of Sumter, SC, Matthew (Jessie) Shaw of DE, and James Jenkins of MD; one aunt, Helen Hood of the city; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She nurtured and reared many children and loved them all as her own.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Friday, September 4, 2015 at Union Baptist Church with Minister Kia Hood officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Friday at the Church.
