Lonnie Wilson, "Chief" the name we affectionately called him, was born September 21, 1936 to the late Booker T. Wilson and Rosa Johnson Wilson. Lonnie departed this life on November 5, 2019 after an extended illness.

Born and raised in Forsyth County, N.C., Lonnie attended the public schools. He worked numerous jobs throughout his life, retiring from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and Salem Health Laundry.

Lonnie was such a loving person. He always had a smile on his face and he never met a stranger. Lonnie was loved by so many and will be so dearly missed.

One Sister and five Brothers preceded him in death.

Those left to cherish his wonderful memories are his devoted wife of 51years, Lizzie C. Wilson; children, Shakoya Hatcher, Shareal Crockett and Darnell Wilson. Lonnie and Lizzie also raised three more children, Melissa Crockett, Monica Crockett and Nathaniel Crockett all from the city; sisters-in-law, Janie Mae Murray and Louise Wright both from the city; cousin, Robert Lee Johnson(Shirley) from St. Paul's, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and so many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm Thursday, November 14, 2019 at New Light Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Samuel P.L. Hickerson officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 12:00noon until 12:30pm on Thursday at the Church.
