Obituary

Lois Davis Quinn was born on February 26, 1937, to the late Will and Henrietta Davis in Newberry S.C. She departed us on January 18, 2022, peacefully at her home in Winston-Salem NC.  Her siblings, Willie "Bro Boy," Gladys (John Henry) Smith and Myrtle Davis preceded her in death, but she leaves behind Pilot (Crystal) Samuels Sr. and Arthur (Brenda) Davis.

Lois moved to Buffalo, N.Y., and after working as a hairdresser and long-distance phone operator. She went on to attend a Business School and receive an Administrative Secretary degree. She also attended Trocaire College where she received her degree as an LPN. She was a devoted member of Greater Metropolitan Baptist Church. She served on the church choir, welcoming committee, ladies Auxiliary and Sunday School Teacher. She was also Eastern Star member of Lodge 52 Shining Star. She started her career in health care working for Deaconess Hospital and then returned to Winston-Salem to care for her father.

Once in Winston-Salem she continued her work LPN doing private duty. She later went on to work as a teacher for the Downtown School and ended her working days as a nurse for the Forsyth County Correction Center.  She was a long-time member of Mars Hill Baptist Church where she served as the church Treasure Secretary, Trustee, and a Missionary board member. Not only was Lois active in the church but also in the community where she found time to donate to those in need and work at the election polls. After retirement she became a member of Carver School Senior Citizen Club and became a member of Global Restoration Center Club until she became ill.

She leaves to cherish her memory four children, the late Craig (Lydia) Johnson, Cynthia (Michael) Jackson, Penny Parks (Melissa), and Paul Lamont Quinn; 7 grandchildren, Vanita (Nikita) Johnson, Ramon Rufus, Phillip Parks, Lakita Johnson, Gregory (Teresa) Johnson, Scheherazade Horne, and Paula Moore; 19 greatgrandchildren; 1 great- great grandchild; and a best friend, Susie B Nance. To Know Lois is to only Love her. There was never a dull moment, a lesson unlearned, and word unsaid. Today we celebrate a great and long life, a child of God, A legend in our eyes, a walking history book, and one like no other. Today, we clap as she enters the gates of heaven, we cry as we recall the memories and we celebrate, like she did up until she went home.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Monday, January 24, 2022 at Russell Funeral Home.

Private funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 25, 2022.
