Obituary

Mrs. Lillie Mae Brown Wilson, 73, was the youngest of five children born May 22, 1941 to Mr. Mack Henry & Mrs. Mary Eliza Brown. She peacefully departed this earthly life on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

Lillie was a graduate of Carver High School, received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Winston-Salem Teachers College (WSSU), and a Master of Science Degree in Education from North Carolina A&T State University. She retired after 30 years of service from the Guilford County School System. After her retirement, Lillie continued to work and tutor the children of her family and community. She made it a priority to give back in the form of school supplies at the beginning of each school year to the community.

Lillie was a member of Dreamland Park Missionary Baptist Church where she was affiliated with numerous committees and activities having served as the Director of Public Relations, Senior Missionary Circle, and the youth and adult choirs.

Lillie found great pride in her community and civic services. She was a member of the Carver High School Alumni Association; a lifetime member of the WSSU Alumni Association; National Teachers Association; National Women of Achievement- WS Chapter; Dreamland Park Rose of Sharon Community Association; and the Dreamland Park Community Reunion Committee. Most proudly, Lillie was a dedicated member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.- Rho Zeta Chapter, in which she held the Omega Chapter of WSSU near and dear to her heart.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, John W. and James H. Brown; and her sister, Mary Elizabeth Brown.

Left to cherish fond memories are her loving and devoted sister, Dr. Sadie B. (James, Sr.) Webster; nephews, Dayrus Webster, James Brown, II, James (Cornelia) Webster, Jr., Daniel (Katrinda) Webster, Daniel Webster, Jr., Kali (Krissie) Webster, and Derrick Webster; dedicated nieces, Derika & Demeka Webster, and Dr. Nicole (Michael) Dove; sister-in-law, Kathy B. Brown; a host of great-nieces & nephews; a faithful and committed friend, James "Bootsie" Conrad; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Dreamland Park Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Ronald Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1pm on Tuesday at the Church.

The Omega Service of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. will be held at 6pm Monday, December 15, 2014 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel.
