Mrs. Lillie Mae Mickle Blyther of Winston-Salem, NC departed this life early Wednesday morning, September 6, 2023 at Grace Heights Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness. Mrs. Blyther was born April 26, 1943 to Mr. James Mickle and Mrs. Catherine McCorkle Mickle. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mr. Hezekiah Blyther; one sister, Mrs. Doris Hickmon; one brother, Mr. James McCorkle; one brother-in-law, Mr. Hazel Hickmon; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Betty Mickle.
Mrs. Lillie Mae attended the Winston-Salem/Forsyth Public Schools. She was formerly employed with Salem College and retired after working for over 25 years.
She became a member of Union Baptist Church and attended regularly until her health declined. Mrs. Lillie Blyther loved to dress, loved cooking and cleaning for her family. She would sometimes attend SSOW with her sister, Mrs. Doris Hickmon and her son, Richard.
Mrs. Lillie Mae Blyther leaves to cherish her fond members, four daughters, Mrs. Deborah (Andre) McCombs of Hickory, NC, Ms. Beverly Mickle, Mrs. Patricia Curtis and Ms. Linda Mickle all of the city; one sister, Ms. Minnie Mickle of the city; four brothers, Mr. John McCorkle of Philadelphia, PA, Mr. Moultrie (Cynthia) Mickle of the city, Mr. Rayvonne (Jean) Mickle of Hampton, GA and Mr. Harold (Judy) Mickle of the city; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Pricilla Mickle also of the city. She leaves to cherish many grandchildren, great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; four nieces, several special very devoted nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Russell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Union Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 12:00noon until 12:30pm on Wednesday at the Church.
