Obituary

Lillian Rebecca France Hauser, 86, was the daughter of the late Luther and Bessie (Finney) France. After her long battle with cancer, she received her "Heavenly Wings" and entered into Heaven's gate on Thursday, April 25, 2019.

Lillian "aka" Ms. Becky, Lena, auntie, and grandma, was born March 21, 1933 in Surry County, baptized, and joined the church at the age of 12. She attended J.J. Jones School in Mt. Airy before moving to Tobaccoville, NC and married the late Wiley Hauser Jr. in 1951. Later she joined Center Grove A.M.E. Zion, were she was a Sunday School teacher, Deaconess, and Senior Choir member.  She later became a faithful member at First Baptist Church of King, NC until her health declined.

Lillian's greatest accomplishments was raising her seven beautiful and successful children, two of which have been called to glory.  She instilled morals, values, respect and the importance of Jesus' into their lives. Lillian was known for sharing God's Word at all times. Her favorite things to do was reading the Bible, testifying to others, helping others understand God's Word, and watching TCT (Christian Television). One of her favorite scriptures was, "In my Father's house are many mansions:  if it was not so, I would have told you.  I go to prepare a place for you." John 14:2. She lived her life as a testimony of Jesus Christ's love and forgiveness.

Lillian was known by everyone for her tremendous love for gardening, which went beyond her property. She was often seen picking up litter along Spainhour Mill Road, so it would remain beautiful.  She was adamant about recycling.  She was also known throughout the community for picking and sharing her delicious apples.

To her, "Cleanliness was next to Godliness", which is why she took pride in being a domestic worker for over 65 years.  One of her greatest accomplishments was serving on the original Steering Committee which lead to the incorporation of the Village of Tobaccoville. After serving on the Steering Committee, she was elected by the Tobaccoville Community as the first African American to serve on the first Village Council and served as a Council member from 1991 to 1997.

Her love will always be cherished by her four daughters: Jo Ann Hickman, of Fort Mill, SC, Mary Hauser Phillips, Dorothy Brooks (deceased and Gary) and Cassandra Williams (Denard) all of Winston-Salem, NC;  three sons,  Allen Hauser of Winston-Salem, NC, Aldene (deceased and Belinda) of Tobaccoville, NC, and Adam Hauser (Angella "Cee Cee")  of Greensboro, NC; five sisters, Verla Mae Stewart (deceased), Earline Butler, Kattie Lee Dobson, and Sara Ellen France (deceased); two brothers, Thomas France and John Ervin France (both deceased); sixteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren; three sisterly friends, Sara Bell Gentry, Faye Speas, and Vicki Heath. Also, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Wake Forest Comprehensive Cancer Center, Pruitt and Trellis Hospice Care.
