Lewis Rick Black was born February 6, 1936 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Robert Black Jr. and Gladys Norris. Lew Black was an extraordinary man with brilliance and visions that surpassed his time. He was the Curator of the Art Gallery at Body and Soul Cultural Boutique. Originally from NY, he relocated to North Carolina when he retired 10 years ago. He had many successful business endeavors through his life. On January 21, 2018 the angels ushered him into glory.
Lew Black married Emily Hollingsworth of Brooklyn, New York where two children were born from this union, Lewis Rick Black II and Dana Simone Black.
He was a faithful member of Goler Memorial AME Zion Church and the original resident at Goler Manor.
He is survived by his son Lewis Rick Black II (Cheryl) of Midlothian, VA; his daughter Dana Suggs (Michael) of Kernersville, NC; ex, Emily Black; his brother, John Black of Washington, D.C.; his sister, Yvonne Black of Durham, NC; three grandsons, Lewis III, Justin and Avery; nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of relatives and close family friends.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00pm Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Goler Memorial AME Zion Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Goler Memorial AME Zion Church, Youth Entrepreneurial Program (YEP!).
