Obituary

Levonia Parks formerly of Winston-Salem, NC passed away Sunday, October 25, 2009 at Bronx Lebanon Hospital following an illness. She was born in Forsyth County on May 13, 1946 to Helen Mack Parks and Lucius Parks. She attended the local public schools and later moved to New York. She formerly worked at Wake Forest University and John Jay College (NY) for several years before her health declined.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Levonia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Carl Palmer of New York; children, Michael Parks and Tina (Elmore) McFadzen of New York, Donald and Ronald Rogers of Winston-Salem, NC; sisters, Dianne Parks of New York, Paulette (James) Ingram, Darlene (Edward) Wake, Beverly Ridgill, Sharlene Parks, and Deborah Lipscomb of Winston-Salem, NC; 8 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will be celebrating Levonia's life with a memorial service at 11am Saturday, November 7, 2009 from the New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Samuel J. Cornelius officiating. The family may be reached at the home of her sister, Paulette Ingram.
