Mr. Lester Davis, Sr., 97, affectionately known to everyone as "Big Dave", was born on June 8, 1921 to Mr. Jinks and Edith Davis.  He passed away on April 27, 2019.

"Big Dave" attended the public schools of Hoke County and served in the United States Air Force for ten years.  He was Baptist by faith, worked as a chief crane operator for 30+ years at Brenner Iron & Metal, and was a member of the Bivouac Lodge #503 for 60+ years.  He was married to the late Rosa Lee Woods.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his children, Mr. Lester Davison, Mr. Artis R. Woods, Mrs. Ann Thomas, and Mrs. Laura Mae Davis; and four grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Audrey D. Jones, Lester T. Davis, and Keith D. Davis; 20 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; a host of relatives and friends; and a special shout out to his caregiver, Ms. Victoria Simmons and his grandson, Mr. Carlos L. Sawyer.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Todd Fulton officiating.  The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm on Saturday at the Chapel.
