Lessie Mae Jennings Thompson, affectionately known as "Mae" departed his life peacefully on September 14, 2014. She was born in Baltimore, MD to the late Dorothy Mae Moore and Elijah Jennings. She received her education in both the Baltimore, MD and North Carolina schools and retired from Unity Healthcare of Washington, DC on September 5, 1997.
Lessie Mae married Nathaniel F. Thompson, her childhood sweetheart.
She leaves to cherish her loving and devoted husband, Nathaniel Thompson of the home; children, Juanita Williams, Timothy (Shirley)Jennings, Christopher Jennings Allen, Belvin (Kahdijah) Lyles, and Darrell Lyles all of Winston-Salem, NC; step-daughters, Yolanda (Steven) Young, Tonya (Mark) Bodrick, and LaKeasha Thompson of Maryland; grandchildren, Terrell, Tierra, Dominique, Nazier, NaKelia, Joseph, Timothy, Jr., Christopher, Jr., and Kayden; one great-grandson, Derrick, Jr.; five sisters, Roberta Bradford, Regina (William) Branch, Diane Moore, Gracie (Ernest) George, and Claudette (Kevin) Manning; two brothers, Anthony Taylor and Tyrone Moore; sisters-in-law, Barbara Caldwell and Florine Jones; one maternal aunt, Grace Amos all of Maryland; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close and devoted friends, Robert (Brenda) Lyles, Vercie Akinvsi, and H. Vincent Little.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Friday, September 19, 2014 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Gracie George officiating. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1pm on Friday at the Chapel.
