Leonora Lucinda Phillips Nightingale was born on June 6, 1934 in Sylver City, Canal Zone, Colon, Panama to Esmelyn Phillips and Berrisford Phillips.  Affectionately known as "Norma", she passed away at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center on December 6, 2024.  Her life's passion was to travel; not afraid to venture out to learn about new things and places.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Nightingale; son, Romulo Nightingale; daughter, Celia Nightingale; granddaughter, Donna Timm; brothers, George Phillips,
Leroy Phillips, and Berris Ford Phillips; and sisters, Claudia "Dimple" Gordon, Dorothy Phillips, Delia Phillips, and Ethylene Brown.

Norma is survived by her sons, Robert Nightingale and Ray Nightingale; daughter, Claudia Broomfield; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Enid Phillips; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00am Thursday, December 12, 2024 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11:00am on Thursday at the Chapel.
