Obituary

Mr. Leo Boyd Cannon, Sr. departed from this earthly tabernacle into a richer and more peaceful life on Saturday morning, August 16, 2008 following a brief illness at Forsyth Medical Center.

He was born to John and Ella Boyd Cannon on November 28, 1914 in Newberry, SC.

He retired from McLean Truck Company after 25 years of services and served as a dedicated trustee and custodian of Cappadocia Holiness Church for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evangelist Effie Wilkins Cannon; his daughter, Betty Cannon Collins; and seven brothers and sisters.

Leo's memory will be cherished by his sons, Leo Cannon, Jr. and Reginald Cannon both of Winston-Salem, NC; fifteen grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm Saturday, August 23, 2008 from the New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop Melvin Wilkins, Jr. presiding and Reverend Leo B. Cannon, III officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

The family visitation will be held from 12 Noon until 12:30 on Saturday at the Church.
