Mr. Lenwood O. Golden, Sr. was born January 17, 1942 to Jacob and Oberia Golden of Rural Hall, NC. He departed this earthly life on Thursday, July 14, 2011 following a brief illness.
He was a member of Stewards Chapel AME Zion Church. He also attended St. James United Methodist Church both located in Rural Hall, NC. He loved hunting and spending time with family. He attended Carver High School, worked at Piedmont Airlines, and retired from Winston-Salem State University with 32 years of dedicated service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Oberia Golden; and two beloved brothers, Douglas and Hinton Golden.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Golden; four children, Neil (Keisha), Lynetta "Butterfly", Lenard "Boom" (Deanna), and Linda Golden; two God-sons, Ricky Cheeks and Lamont Mitchell; seven grandchildren, La'trease, Jada, Jaylon, Lenard Golden, Jr., Da'lyne Patterson, Tatiyanna Henry, and Carlson Tanner, IV; one brother, Benny (Pam) Golden; three sisters, Virginia (Sam) Conrad, Maver Jones, and Anita Golden; a host of other relatives and friends.
He cherished and loved his brother, sisters, in-laws, nephews, nieces, friends, and family.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Eddie L. Fortson officiating and Reverend Dairl Scott eulogist. Interment will follow in Stewards Chapel AME Zion Church Cemetery, Rural Hall, NC. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1pm on Wednesday at the Chapel.
