Lena Mae Sullivan Richmond was called home to be with her heavenly father on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Lena began her earthly life on May 3, 1941 in Chesterfield County, South Carolina. She was the first born child of the late, Handy Benjamin and Nellie Sullivan. Lena was a proud alumna of Carver High School class of 1957. She spent most of her life being a supportive and loving wife and mother. She was married to the late SFC Herman Leon Richmond, Sr. on June 6, 1958. They traveled the world together while he served proudly in the United States Army. Lena was faithful member of the Carver School Road Church of Christ for over 20 years.
She leaves to cherish her memory, four children; Kenyetta Richmond, Charlene Richmond, both of Winston- Salem, NC, Herman Leon (Deana) Richmond, Jr. of Charlotte, NC, and Derrick Lee (Erica) Richmond, Sr. of Winston -Salem, NC; two sisters, Immogene Sullivan Bray of Winston- Salem, NC, and Gloria Sullivan Brown of Pfafftown, NC; two brothers, Rudolph(Lois) Sullivan of Winston- Salem, NC, and Thomas Lee (Debra)Sullivan, Sr. of Greensboro, NC; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Richmond, Alexis Richmond, Asia Richmond, Hermoni Richmond, Derrick Lee Richmond, Jr. all of Winston- Salem, NC, Deona Richmond
and Little Miss Kelsey Richmond, both of Charlotte, NC; devoted friends, Janice Cowan of Statesville, NC, and Dennis and Ludelle Venson of Martinez, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Friday, February 11, 2011 at Carver Road Church of Christ. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday evening February 10, 2011 at the Church.
