Elder Larry Franklin Lane Peebles was born to James Elmer Peebles, Sr. & Janet Ellis in Advance, NC on April 25, 1950. Larry attended and graduated from Davie High School in Mocksville, NC. He had many passions including landscaping, watching football and basketball, coaching his grandson Brycen, car detailing & maintenance, attending car races and antique car shows. He also loved serving as an Elder in the Lord's Church, putting his hands to the plow, serving in many capacities in ministry.
Larry was also known as "LP"/ "Mr. Fix-It", amongst all of us. However, FAMILY was his PRIORITY! He was a loving Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, Dad, Grand-Dad, Paw Paw, Friend, Confidant, Mentor and Coach, just to name a few. Larry Peebles not only was a good man but a Godly man who was faithful and compassionate about life. He was also a man of strength, honor, love and the anchor of his family, church and community. "He was well-known in the gates as he sat amongst the elders ( and others) in the land . " (Proverbs 31:23) Through his BIG SMILE, he brought laughter, love and joy to everyone he met!
Larry was formerly employed at Salem Steele before moving to Johnson Control Inc. (JCI) where he retired after faithfully serving for 32 years.
On January 4, 2019, God called Elder Larry Franklin Lane Peebles from labor to reward. He is survived by his wife of 14 ½ years, Arlene Crump Peebles; one son, Tracey Arnold; three daughters, Shawnetta Peebles, Sabrina Crump, and Nichelle Crump; seven grandchildren, Brycen Nichols, Isaiah Gaither, Marquis Crump, Alexis Fuller, Meesha Goins, Monique Haith, and Destiny Haith; five great-grandchildren, Hunter, Aubrie, Ava, Ariyonna, and Alani; siblings, Blandlia P. McMoore, Mable P. Allen (Willie C.), Mozel P. Key, and James E. Peebles Jr.; a special niece, Andrea C. Moses and great-niece, CeCe; two special nephews, Reginald Clark and Jimmy M. Peebles, Sr.; three childhood cousins, Ray, Stephen, and Terry Anderson; and three devoted friends, Charles Jenkins, Raymond O'Neal, and Theartis Dunlap; his Godmother, Mother Thelma Foy; and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James E. & Janet E. Peebles; his sister, Joanne P. (Henry) Clark; and his aunt, Mrs. Clara E. Douglas.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Saturday, January 12, 2019 at St. Peter's Church & World Outreach Center. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 12noon on Saturday at the Church.
