Reverend Larry Nathaniel Carter, Sr. of New York passed away on Saturday June 2, 2007 in that city. He was born July 24, 1950 to Steve Maddox and Mary Elizabeth Carter in Akron, OH.
Larry attended the Forsyth County School System and was a 1999 graduate of Anderson High School in Winston-Salem, NC. He moved to New York City and worked 36 years for the Postal Service. During those years he would take his first wife Debra and from this union a son was born named Larry Nathaniel Carter, Jr. Larry would marry once again and this time to Carrie and from this union another son was born named Emmanuel Luis Carter.
Larry joined First Baptist Church while still a young teen. He later went on and pursued his dream of becoming a minister. He was an associate minister at Mount hope AME Zion Church in White Plains, NY.
Larry was preceded in death by his father Steve Maddox and his sister, Priscilla Carter.
He leaves to cherish his memories two sons, Larry Jr. (Danielle) and Emmanuel; his mother, Mary Carter Watson; his sisters, Gaynor Jeanette Hicks (Theartis), Mattie Carter, and Mary Jane Watson; his brothers, Arthur Carter, Murray Lee Carter, Donald Carter, and Timothy Watson, Sr.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, June 9, 2007 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be held from 11 am until 12 noon Saturday at the funeral home.
