Larry Rogers Broome departed this life on Sunday evening, February 3, 2013. He was born on October 16, 1945 to the late "Jimmy" Winslow Nixon Broome and Brooksie Price Broome in Sandy Ridge, NC.

He successfully completed his high school education at London High School in Walnut Cove, NC 1963. Afterwards, he served in the US Army as a soldier in the Vietnam War from 1966-1968. He was later employed as a machine operator with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company where he served for over 24 years until retirement.

Waiting to greet him are his father; mother; one stepdaughter, Brenda Wilson; and a number of other relatives that preceded him in transitioning.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 25 years, Beverly Luck Broome; one son, Anthony Link (Patricia) Broome of Walnut Cove, NC; one daughter, Brooksie Ann Broome of Greensboro, NC; four stepsons, Lorenzo, Theodore, Jeffery (Sheila), and Bryant (Lori) Wilson of Winston-Salem, NC; one stepdaughter, Linda Wilson; two brothers, Ronnie (Paulette) and Roland Lafayette (Betty) Broome of Sandy Ridge, NC; two sisters, Mary Angie Welch of Rural Hall, NC and Phyllis (William) Boykin of Raleigh, NC; eleven grandchildren; three nephews; two nieces; and a multitude of relatives and friends who loved and will miss him dearly.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend William Boykin officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Thursday at the Chapel.
