Kimeko "Meko" Dejuan James, 26, answered the Master's call on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Moses Cone Hospital. Born July 8, 1990 to Natoshia Miles and Kennetha "Kim" Brown, he was a member of the Parkland High School Class of 2008 where he was a notable football player and wrestler. He studied Digital Music at Antelope Valley College in Lancaster, CA. He was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. Meko was employed with Parkway Ford as a service technician where he was excited about learning the trade. He was even more excited about a possible career with the Greensboro Fire Department and had been accepted to participate in their hiring process. Meko was an avid video gamer and spent much of his leisure time on-line with competitors.
Meko was preceded in death by his grandfather, Thomas E. James; and uncle, Walter Brown Jr.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving mother and step-father, Natoshia and Darryle Miles of W-S, NC; his father, Kennetha "Kim "Brown" of Jackson, AL; a devoted brother, Keyante James; two step-sisters, Ebonee and Teneishia Miles; step-brother, Malik Miles, all of W-S, NC; Meko shared a special bond with his maternal grandmother, Lela James of Jackson, AL; and was quite fond of his paternal grandparents, Walter and Ruthie Brown, all of Jackson, AL; Meko had allowed a special place in his heart for his step-grandmother, Carolyn McWillis of Winston-Salem.
Homegoing services will be held at 12noon Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 4129 Northampton Dr. W-S, NC with Rev. Dr. Nathan E. Scovens, Sr., Pastor and Rev. Dr. James F. Linville officiating. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12noon on Saturday at the Church. Meko will be laid to rest on May 6, 2017 in the St. James AME Zion Church Cemetery, Choctaw Bluff Rd. Jackson, AL.
