Kevin Bernard Evans, 57, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center. Kevin was born July 18,1966 to the late Bobby Gene Evans and Christine Lane Evans. Kevin was affectionately known as "Lil Cat" or just plain old "Catfish."
Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Gene "Catfish" Evans; his maternal grandparents, John Hull Lane, Sr. and Etta Lane Ross "Granny;" his paternal grandparents, Alexander and Rosetta Evans; uncles and aunts, John "Night Train" & Delois Lane Jr. and Clarence & Mary McMillian, Sr.; step grandfather, Mr. Selma Ross; and nephew, William Denard Harris.
Kevin was a 1984 graduate of North Forsyth Senior High School where he was known as Mr. Outside while playing football and baseball for the Vikings. He later attended Lees- McRae College where he also played ball. Kevin also played ball for the Tiny Vikings Pop Warner League for many years. He played Baseball for Twin City and Walkertown Little League. Kevin was an avid golfer at Winston-Lake golf course and played in several golf tournaments. He also taught golf for Winston Salem First Tee and held a mini golf camp for kids for four years at Winston Lake golf course. He also worked with special needs children for a short time. Kevin served in the U.S. Navy for 6 years.
Kevin was an AVID DIEHARD Dallas Cowboys and UNC Tarheel Fan.
Kevin attended Fresh Wind Fellowship Baptist Church where the Pastor is Ronald E. Speas & First Lady Dr. Soncerey M. Speas. Everybody knew he loved his Pastor and First Lady. He loved his Fresh Wind Family. Kevin would Usher when his health allowed him to.
Kevin leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted mother, Christine Lane Evans; two devoted sisters, Deborah (Bennie) Harris, and Bobbietta (Cassius, Sr.) Adams of the city; devoted brother, Devore (Angela Myers) Holman of Advance NC; devoted nephews, Cassius Adams Jr., Chase Adams of the city and Devore Holman Jr. of Charlotte NC; devoted nieces, Cameron Adams and Madera Harris of the city; aunts, Delores Estes and Sheila Newton of the city; special cousins, Rodney Lane, Germaine Lane, Dejohn (Phillip) Scales, Clarence McMillian Jr., Michelle McMillian Foster, Sonya McMillian, Camille "Miller" McClary, Leon (Jennifer) Evans, Wanda Evans, Tabrina (Terry) Vincent, and Angie (Steve Little) Estes; special and devoted friends, Jeff (Crystal) Hoover, Tayron "TY" (Glenda) Wilson, Russell Rice, Jr., and his grandchildren, Brian Howard of Garland, TX, Scott Johnson of Indianapolis, IN, Patrick Glenn, Kevin Torrence, Samuel Branch, Willie Asford, III, Kevin Barr of Florence, SC, Anthony Fenell, Lisa Fenell, Leonard McCollough Jr., Vic Smith, Terry Smith, Jr., Bryon Cheeks, Tony Giles, Billy McKeever, Pamela Barr, Charles Oakes, Bishop Sir Walter Mack, Jr., Rev. Dr. Herbert Miller and Antoine Partlow; his family in Belmont NC, The Lane, Grier and Tribble Family; and his Fresh Wind Church Family.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Russell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Thursday, August 24, 2023 at Morning Star Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Mount Gur Cemetery, Kernersville, NC. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12noon on Thursday at the Church.
