Obituary

Kermit Pinkney, Sr. was born July 19, 1957 to the late Allen W. Pinkney, Sr. and Betty S. Pinkney. On the afternoon of Saturday, July 11, 2020, Kermit took his heavenly flight to behold his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Kermit was educated in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools and was a 1976 graduate of North Forsyth High School.
Kermit and his family lived many years in Boone, North Carolina, Blowing Rock, North Carolina and Winchester, Virginia, where Kermit worked in Hospitality. Over the past recent years Kermit and family returned to the Triad, where they resided in Graham and Liberty, North Carolina.
Kermit was known for his whit and life of the party spirit. Also, everyone knew his real calling was singing and dancing. Kermit had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. Additionally, Kermit loved his wife Norene of nearly 38 years dearly. Both Norene and Kermit shared the same birthday and they were married on their birthday, July 19 th . Kermit made sure that their birthday/anniversary was celebrated each year big or small. Furthermore, over the past recent years, Kermit made sure he shared his love for God and family to all.

Kermit was preceded in death by his father, Allen W. Pinkney, Sr.; mother, Betty S. Pinkney; and one sister, Marilyn P. McKnight.

He is survived by his wife and soulmate, Norene Pinkney; five children, Kermilya P. (Marcus) Simmons of Anderson, SC, Kermit Pinkney, Jr. of Liberty, NC, Nicola Lindsey, Joy Allen, and Kermit Allen all of Winston-Salem, NC; three siblings, Chlories P. Shore of Pfafftown, NC, Alene P. (Nathan) Wilkins of Clemmons, NC,  and Allen W. "Grubb" (Sharon) Pinkney, Jr. of Germanton, NC; ten and a half grandchildren; many aunts, uncles, cousins, family members and friends.

A viewing will be held from 12noon until 5:00pm Thursday, July 16, 2020 at Russell Funeral Home.  Private services will be held Friday, July 17, 2020.  Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
