Obituary

Kenneth Shepard Wright was abruptly called home to eternal rest on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at the Wake Forest University/Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. A native of Winston–Salem, he was born September 12, 1947 to James N. and Elizabeth M. Wright.
During his early years he attended Dreamland Park Baptist Church where he attended Sunday school, Baptist Training Union, and sang in the Youth Choir.
He was a graduate of Atkins High School and spent nine years of active military duty in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. Kenneth was last employed with the North Carolina Department of Transportation in Raleigh and Durham, NC. He returned to Winston – Salem in 2001.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his father, James N. Wright, Sr.; and two brothers, Carl B. Wright and Michael N. Wright.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Wright of Salisbury, NC; one son, Ronnie Wilds (Siterial) of Yadkinville, NC; two brothers, James N. Wright, Jr. (Linda) of Winston-Salem, NC and John Martin (Hyacinth) of New Haven, CT; sisters, Kay Wright Norman (Dr. Bryant) of Salisbury, NC, and Nancy Wright Green of Winston-Salem, NC; one sister–in-law, Geneva Wright of Winston-Salem, NC. Others who mourn his loss are nieces; nephews; his grandchildren, Treasure, Joseph and Joshua; great-nieces and great-nephews; best friend, Percy Bryant and special residents at Quality Independent Living.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm Monday, June 29, 2009 at the VA Medical Center Chapel, 1601 Brenner Avenue, Salisbury, NC 28144. Interment will follow in the Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC. The family will receive friends this evening from 5pm until 6pm at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel.
