The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. On Thursday morning, February 10, 2011, God took his child Kenneth Frank King into his arms. He was born January 18, 1945 in Stokes County to Anzle and Virginia King. He graduated in 1964 from JJ Jones High School in Mt. Airy, NC.
He moved to Detroit, MI in 1965, where he attended the Police Academy and became a police officer. He was later drafted into the United States Army serving in the Vietnam War.
Kenneth returned back to North Carolina residing in Winston-Salem working at Zayres Department Store (security), King Sash and Door Co., where he enjoyed making furniture, and later retired from RJ Reynolds as an Engineer.
He was preceded in death by one son, PFC Jerry L. King; one granddaughter, Kelci King; a brother, Jesse King; father and mother, Anzle and Virginia King; and grandparents, Elder Jess and Eva Mabe.
Kenneth leaves to cherish five beautiful children, Anthony King (Kristy), Paula L. King (John Penn), Michelle King-Clinton (Ellison Clinton, Jr.), Sherry E. King, and Tonya L. Hardy, all of Winston-Salem; three brothers, John S. King of Walnut Cove, Charles King (Debra) of Winston-Salem, and Kerry King of Wilmington; two sisters, Patricia King of Walnut Cove and Deborah King of Winston-Salem; two aunts, Patricia Martin and Dorothy King; one uncle; Jesse Mabe; 14 grandchildren; and a special friend, Carol France.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at the Second New Bethel Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11:00am on Tuesday at the Church.
