Mrs. Katherine Elizabeth Rowe Walker of Atlanta, GA and formerly of Winston-Salem, NC passed away Sunday, August 19, 2007 in Atlanta GA. She was born November 13, 1929 in Leesville, SC to Mamie Rowe Bryant (step-father Ransom Bryant) and Sammie Etheridge.

She was an honors graduate of Hampton High School, graduated from Cosmetology School, earn her Bachelor of Arts degree from Benedict College with distinct honors, taught school for many years at Northwest and Philo Junior High Schools, a long standing member of United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church since 1969 and a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Julius Walker, Sr.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories her children, Gwendolyn Jones, Julius Walker III (Daisy), Belinda Allah (Rahim), and Carolyn Walker Bailey (Charles); eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and loved ones.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Friday, August 24, 2007 at United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend Prince R. Rivers officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. Family visitation will be held Thursday, August 23, 2007 from 7 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimers Association in your area in the name of Katherine Rowe Walker.
