Obituary

Katherine "Wandella" Ridgill-Rice was born on January 23, 1950 to the late Odessa and Garfield Ridgill in Lewisville, NC. God said "well done" and called her home on March 23, 2010 at home surrounded by her family. Wandella was a graduate of Carver High School and later received her certification as an Activities Director from Forsyth Technical Institute. Her work career included Hanes Hosiery, Springwood Care Center and finally at The Oaks at Forsyth Nursing Facility.
As a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Wandella belonged to many, many ministries. She was always willing to do anything she could anytime she was needed. She loved the Lord and her church and followed His calling which led to her ordination as a Deacon on April 18, 2004.
Her unfailing and unwavering love for her family was evident to all.
In addition to her parents Wandella was preceded in death by brothers, Dennis, Curtis, Michael and Jerry.
She leaves to cherish her sweet, sweet memories her husband, Wilbert Rice; children, Curtis (Dana) Powers, Kaye "Lynn" Powers, Sonya (Steve) Waddell, and Cedric "Fugi" Powers all of Winston-Salem, NC, Staff Sgt. Travis (Tumesha) Williams of Fort Knox, KY, and Chevelle (Reginald) Jones of Winston-Salem, NC; grandchildren, Brittney, Bridgette' and Breanna Wall, Wilbert, Herbert and Christina Jones, Tierra Matthews, Brandie Crawford, DeVon Johnson, Jimmie "JJ", Joi, and Jasmine Jeter, and Alyssa Burnette all of Winston-Salem, NC, La'Quan Stone and Makhi Williams of Ft. Knox, KY; great-granddaughter, Tytianna Coleman and Godson, Devin Fletcher, both of Winston-Salem, NC; brothers, Richard (Pat) Ridgill and Kenneth Ridgill and sisters, Janice and Gail Ridgill all of Winston-Salem, NC; aunts, Tommie Hawkins, Bernice Hill, Doretha Mack, Sarah "Honey" Ridgill and Beatrice Kelly; five brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends; special friends, Carolyn Allison, Carolyn Gaddy, Nadyne Brown, Jerry and Nancy Dodd, and George and Delores Wall, Sr.
Funeral services will be held at Noon Monday, March 29, 2010 at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. John Mendez officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 6:30pm until 8pm Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
