Reverend Karl Payne was born to the union of the late David and Katie Payne on July 24, 1961. Karl was the youngest son of eleven children.  He ascended to his heavenly home on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Forsyth Medical Center.

Reverend Payne attended the local public schools, graduating from North Forsyth High School, Class of 1980.  He was employed with the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System, RJ Reynolds, and several additional places of employment over the years.

He was proudly married to the former Bobbietta Wilson, and is the father of one son, Antwain and daughter, Sharun.

Along with his wife and children he is survived by six grandchildren; Goddaughter, Michelle Gray; Godmother, Rosa Harold and Vera Janrs of Harmony, NC;  two sisters, Jacqueline Payne (Willie) Brooks and Sophia Payne (Thomas) Drake; father and mother-in-law, Rosebud and Peggy Wilson; sisters-in-law, Ida Duncan, Phyllis Chisolm, Carla (David) Fenner, April (Tony) Thompson, Sherryl Bohannon, and Vivian Payne; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Phillips Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Chad Armstrong officiating.  Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm on Wednesday at the Church.
